Jeremic stressed that strong pressure is being exerted on African countries in this respect and voiced his belief that the bilateral meetings will be successful and will not change their stance.
Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic will attend the 13th summit of the African Union in Sirte, Lybia, where he will hold separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the countries participating in the summit.
In a statement to the FoNet news agency, the Minister specified that only 6 out of 53 members of the African Union have recognised Kosovo independence.
Jeremic stressed that strong pressure is being exerted on African countries in this respect and voiced his belief that the bilateral meetings will be successful and will not change their stance.
The African Union is a heterogeneous organisation on which pressure is being exerted by both western countries and Saudi Arabia to recognise Kosovo, Jeremic explained.
At the opening of the Sirte summit, apart form the chairman, Libyan President Muammar al-Gaddafi, speakers were also the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Serbia is taking part in the African Union summit as a guest country of the chairing Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.
