Kosovo former PM returns to politics

PRISTINA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Former Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Ceku returned to politics Thursday, accepting the role of leader of the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo (PSDK).
Ceku, who served as Kosovo's premier during March 2006 to December 2007, was endorsed unanimously by the council of the PSDK.
Ceku accepted the offer, promising that he will contribute to the development of Kosovo society and to speed up European integration.
Ceku, 47, was a commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army during the 1998-99 Albanian guerrilla war for independence from Serbia. He also fought in Croatia's 1991-95 war for independence from Yugoslavia.
In 2002, Serbian authorities issued a warrant for his arrest, accusing him of war crimes against Serbs.
The PSDK is a small political entity with no members either in parliament or the ruling coalition in Kosovo. Some reports suggest the SDP will seek a union with reformist party ORA, which is led by Veton Surroi, a famous Kosovo Albanian publicist.
Ceku didn't confirm or deny these reports.
