Turkey inaugurates restored Ottoman bridge in Bosnia
Two Turkish ministers inaugurated a restored historical bridge in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday.
Turkish State Ministers Faruk Celik and Faruk Nafiz Ozak participated in the inauguration of historical Konjic Bridge near capital Sarajevo.
The Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) funded the reconstruction which cost some two million euros.
Konjic city was joined to the territory of the Ottoman State by Sultan Mehmet The Conquerer in 1463. The bridge was constructed over the River Neretva upon the instruction by Sultan Mehmet IV in 1682.
The 82-meter bridge was heavily damaged during the World War II.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul participated in a ceremony held on September 10, 2007 to launch the renovation works.
