In the winter of 1969, following a tragic accident, Rose Kolaj promised her husband that his dream would be carried out and their children would grow up in the free and God-blessed land of America. With determination in her mind and promise in her heart, she made the pilgrimage from Italy and in the spring of 1970 arrived in New York City with her daughter and four sons. From a young age, they learned about making pizza in the best venue - New York City! They learned from the bottom up, first washing pots and pans, then being promoted to delivery boys, and eventually working the counter and becoming pizza makers. They learned from some of the top old-timers in the trade from the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. Whether in Little Italy or Midtown, from Wall St. to Broadway, they learned how to do things only one way – the right way!
