Falcione group will build a facility in the southwestern Albanian town of Fieri to regassify liquefied natural gas and an underwater pipeline linking to Italy, for a total of EUR1 billion.
Moncada Costruzioni will construct a wind farm near Vlora and a power line connecting with Italy for a total EUR1.02 billion, the statement said. Moncada Energy Group Srl has said in the past the wind farm will have a capacity of 500 megawatts, billing it as Europe's biggest.
The deals will be signed as part of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's visit to Albania, where he will meet his counterpart Sali Berisha and President Bamir Topi, the Italian premier's office said in a statement.
Current Economy Minister Giulio Tremonti said during the Italy's April parliamentary election campaign that nuclear plants could be built in Albania to supply energy-hungry, but nuclear-free, Italy. After winning the elections, the center-right government, of which Tremonti is part of, has said it will reintroduce atomic power in Italy after a two-decade ban.
