6 Wissenschaftler machten auf Hawaii in 2.600 m Höhe in einem Lava-Feld einen Selbstversuch und versuchten im Auftrag der NASA heraus zu finden, wie sich Astronauten auf der Reise zum Mars und zurück ernähren könnten. Die Rezepte für die Menüs wurden durch einen öffentlichen Wettbewerb ermittelt.
