PRISTINA, Serbia-Montenegro-The United Nations condemned on Friday a grenade attack on a Serb house in western Kosovo.
The attack occurred shortly after midnight in the town of Klina, some 50 kilometers (30 miles) west of the province's capital, Pristina. The house of an elderly Serb couple was targeted, said Neeraj Singh, a U.N. spokesman.
No one was injured in the attack, which caused damage to the house, Singh said.
"Such violent acts of intimidation should not have any place in Kosovo society," said Larry Rossin, deputy head of the U.N. mission in Kosovo, in a statement.
The attack was also condemned by the province's government, which urged police to find and punish "the perpetrators of such acts that damage the political and security processes in Kosovo."
Klina, an ethnic Albanian-dominated town, has seen Serbs return recently after they fled in the aftermath of the province's 1998-1999 war.
Kosovo has been administered by U.N. mission since mid-1999 following a NATO air war which halted Serb forces crackdown on independence-seeking ethnic Albanians.
