PM condemns traditional Croat salute

Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader has condemned the traditional Croatian salute “Ready for homeland” as unpatriotic.

“Slogan ‘Ready for homeland’ is not patriotic. It was so once until Pavelic regime begun to kill people of other race, nationality and religion, even of the same nationality,” said Sanader.

Pavelic was the leader of the Independent State of Croatia, formed with Hitler’s help, that engaged in a genocide of Serbs, Gypsies and Roma. The Pavelic regime used slogan “Ready for homeland” along with the Nazi sieg heil hand salute.

In recent years, Croatian soccer fans have been chanting the slogan with the sieg heil hand gestures on stadiums and then lining up to outline a human swastika.

Sanader’s comments were made after a law was passed that prohibits nazi outbursts by Croatian fans.

The new law will allow the police to arrest soccer fans that organize these outbursts in the stadium. These fans will have to surrender their passports to the police so that they will no longer be able to travel with the team outside Croatia.

Croatian soccer clubs and the Croatian national team have been fined 1 million Euros so far because of the Nazi outbursts by the Croatian fans.

Und zum Thema. Finde ich übertrieben. Ich meine man sollte sich niemals den Serben zum Vorbild nehmen, aber wenn die ihre Nazizeichen verwenden dürfen und darauf noch stolz sind, …. Egal. Wie gesagt wir sind zivilisiert und daher weg mit diesen Sachen. „Bilo pa proslo a govno otislo".
