Turkish Security Forces Kill 3 PKK Rebels
Three rebels of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) were killed in a clash with the Turkish security forces in eastern Turkey on Tuesday, an official statement said.
The armed clash occurred between a group of PKK militants and the Turkish security forces in Burnak village in Ovacik town of Tunceli province, said the statement issued by Tunceli governor's office.
Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, the PKK took up arms in 1984 in order to create an ethnic homeland in southeastern Turkey.
Some 40,000 people have been killed in conflicts involving the PKK for the past over two decades.
