In Mat and Fan Rivers, the fish is been caught with dynamite and electric power. “You have to be a very good swimmer and to properly use the dynamite or to be careful when you put electric wires in the water,’ – said fish merchants of these zones. Such unfair and dangerous trade led to low prices of fish.The price for a kilogram of fish in Burrel’s market is three times cheaper than a kilogram of beef, even though Burrel is not a coastal town. Just over the Milot Bridge, numerous merchants offer fish with a very cheap price. Meanwhile, none is concerned on the way this fish is obtained leading to a disastrous extermination of water species and damaging both flora and fauna of the surrounding areas up to Fan River. None of the state structures is taking any measure to preventing these “fishermen” that hunt through illegal and dangerous ways. The employees of Burrel agriculture and food directory are playing the same role with their passivity toward this problem. If you ask any of the “fishermen” merchants, he says ‘you have to know that everyone has his own friends. We are doing nothing but providing our daily food.’ According to the inhabitants of these zones, this situation will pretty soon lead to the destruction of these rivers’ flora and fauna, not forgetting the wiping out of the fish.
