Canadian Firm to invest $215m in Ilovica Copper Mine

Euromax Resources, the Canadian company that will manage the new Ilovica copper mine near Strumica, has announced that it has secured guarantee to get a 215 million USD credit line from Societe Generale, and UniCredit banks. Euromax Resources says that this credit, agreed in cooperation with the German UFK fund, will provide priority funding for the major planned copper mine.
The financing arrangement is for 21 years, with a credit rate of between 3,75 and 4,25 percent. A condition for the financial instrument is to provide an agreement with a German owned smelting company to buy the produced copper ore.
Euromax Resources has also informed that it has reached agreement with Caterpillar Financial to secure a financing arrangement worth 25 million USD to provide equipment for the Ilovica mine. This arrangement is agreed for the next five years.
"These arrangements are a significant achievement in our plan to finance the Ilovica project. Combined with our agreement for delivery of gold with Royal Gold, we have secured a total of 400 million USD to finance Ilovica. We have reached favourable terms for financing the mine, and our shareholder will benefit from them", Euromax Resources' chief financial manager Varshan Gokool said.
The mine should be completed by 2017, with a total investment of 500 million USD. It is expected to employ 400 miners.
