The air in Skopje today with high concentrations of PM10, although measurements show that unlike previous days, they are on lower level.
Recent measurements of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of the morning at 6 o’clock show high concentrations in all municipalities in Skopje, from 90 to 180 micrograms per square meter.
Very high concentrations are measured in Tetovo.
Yesterday at a press conference, it was announced that competent inspectors for environment protection of the city of Skopje are alerted.
Pollution in the City Skopje in the past six days is over the allowed levels, and local government yesterday came out with recommendations for citizens not to reside in the open, not to ventilated and not to use the cars if it is not necessary.
Involved institutions will sit down together and determine what measures to take, if pollution continues for more than 10 days.
This week should be delivered and put into operation two mobile apparatus for measurement and analysis of ambient air, which for the first time will prove the relationship of air pollution and contaminants. These mobile apparatus will be set on the so-called hot spots in Skopje and other cities.
Among the recommendations are not to use devices for heating and cooking facilities on fossil fuels, especially if the owners and users are aware that they have not provided efficient drainage of exhaust gases, and corporate clients to postpone all activities with corrosive chemicals, adhesives, paints, varnishes, pesticides and the like.
It appeals to businessmen its technological processes to perform with extreme caution and avoid what is not necessary which may affect air quality in the city, as well as collaborate with strengthened inspection by the State Environmental Inspectorate and the Inspectorate Skopje, it is written in the statement.
