Mak Government Blindly Following Brussels
Wednesday, 16 November 2011
Standards... Laws... regardless whether they make sense for Macedonia, official Skopje is following and implementing every little thing Brussels has cooked up in the last 10 years. No one in the Government questions whether "it makes" sense for our citizens.
The latest parody is the issuance of driving licenses to 16 year olds, simply because Brussels said so! It seems Government officials have never driven in Skopje so they decided to legitimize and at the same timie increase the number of car accidents in Skopje, this time caused by children.
Long gone are the days when you needed 6 to 9 months to pass all of your driving exams. There were 15 times less car accidents 15 years ago than today. With good reason. You had to be 18, by the time you got your license you were 19. You were perfectly trained in giving first aid, parallel parking, city driving, highway driving, you had to know all domestic and international road signs. Once you passed all of your exams and got your driving license, it was something to celebrate!
Brussels changed all of that. Today things are somewhat different. Any idiot gets a driving license as long as they can start their car and go straight. As a result, every single day the news are filled with young people killed in car accidents.
If that's not bad enough, now we'll watch car accodents or worse caused by 16 year olds?!?
Skopje's youth has been out of control for some time now. Wealthy parents buy very powerful cars to 16 year olds for their birthdays. At 16, everyone wants to impress a girl or their friends, because they don't know any better. The result is always the same, they make the nightly news. More work for police, hospitals and clean up crews... maybe there is a positive thing here, we are creating jobs!?
When will officials understand that Brussels 'standards' are not international or Macedonian standards. It's also time to realize that some laws simply do not apply in Macedonia. Different country, different culture, different mentality.../
