President Ivanov visits Austria
Skopje, 2 March 2012 (MIA) - President Gjorge Ivanov pays March 2-3 a working visit to Austria, including a meeting with counterpart Heinz Fischer.
Ivanov will brief Fischer on Macedonia's reforms, the Hague court ruling and expectations from the coming NATO summit in Chicago, as well as developments towards overcoming the name row under UN aegis.
Ivanov will ask for continuation of support to Macedonia's Euro-integration by Austria, which is considered one of the strongest supporters of Union enlargement.
President Ivanov will underline Macedonia's interest for application of models for overcoming of bilateral disputes between Serbia and Kosovo, as well as Croatia and Slovenia in the row with Greece.
On Saturday, Ivanov will be inaugurated into protector of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA), thus joining a prestigious group including incumbent presidents of Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Greece and Switzerland, Heinz Fischer, Ivan Gasparovic, Danilo Turk, Karolos Papoulias, and Doris Leuthard respectively, Russian PM Vladimir Putin, as well as sovereigns of Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg, H.M. Juan Carlos de Borbon, H.R.H. Prince Philippe, and H.R.H. Jean de Luxembourg respectively.
EASA was established in Salzburg in 1990, focusing on interdisciplinary discussion across specialist areas, ideologies and scientific cultures as well as promoting transnational dialog and visionary developments of new scientific knowledge and academic thinking. As an independent knowledge pool, the Academy aims to debate and work on contemporary topics across disciplinary and national borders, for the good of those living and working in Europe. EASA brings together over 1,200 scientists and researchers, philosophers and artists from Europe, Asia and the USA, including 25 Nobel Prize winners. Six Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU) academicians are its members.
