PODGORICA -- Friday – US ambassador to Serbia-Montenegro Michael Polt said that Serbia-Montenegro cannot take a two track route to becoming a part of the NATO Partnership for Peace.
“The federal union is the most realistic option. If a decision is made later to change that, then that is something that will have to be discussed in the future." Polt said.
Polt also encourage the Montenegrin members of the national council for Hague cooperation to return to their positions.
“It is of utter important to be a member of the council if you are intent on cooperating with the Hague." said the ambassador.
He added that the US government will respect all agreements reached by Podgorica and Belgrade about future relations between Serbia and Montenegro, and said that "the solution to this question has potential to effect not only the relationship of Serbia and Kosovo and Macedonia, but Montenegro and Albania as well."
