Bosnia-Herzegovina's Football Association have confirmed they rejected Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a youngster.
Although born in Sweden, Ibrahimovic is the son of Bosnian immigrants and his father wanted him to play for the country of his birth.
The Bosnia FA have confirmed they met Ibrahimovic and his father, and in hindsight should have done more to convince the striker to play for them.
The Juventus ace demonstrated his qualities with a superb winner against Hungary in midweek as Sweden look to qualify for next year's World Cup.
"Yes, it is correct that he [Ibrahimovic] was here with his dad," confirmed spokesman Ahmet Pasalic to Sportmagasinet.
"Knowing the outcome, you might feel that we should have done more to convince him to play for Bosnia-Herzegovina."
While Ibrahimovic was at Ajax he still harboured hopes of playing for Bosnia, but recognises it is now too late to switch allegiances.
"It would have been superb if I could play for Bosnia," he told BiH Dani. "If I could, I would have done it at once, but now it is too late."
You see, we can not blame them for doing what they did (at least Ibrahimovic), we also need to look at the other side wich is our stupid people in sport. They dont pay enough atention for our youngsters around the world, they dont give them a chance, in other words they dont care about them.
