The contract for the delivery of 12 helicopters type BO 105, was signed today between the Albanian Ministry of Defense and the German Company, Eurocopter Deutchland GmbH.
The contract was signed in the presence of the Albanian Minister of Defense, Mr Fatimir MEDIU, German Ambassador in Albania, Mr. Hans Peter ANEN, The commander of the Air Forcse, Gen Brig Astrit JAUPI and the Deputy President of the Eurocopter Company, Mr. Mathias Obermayer.
The amount of this contract is 10 million Euros and is valid for a 3 years period. It is settled as part of the contract that all technical part including reparations will be handle by this company. Also the company will provide to adopt the helicopters for our needs and will also provide the training of the pilots.
The Albanian Minister of Defense expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador ANEN for the continuous support that the Federal Republic of Germany has provided to the process of modernizing the Albanian Armed Forces.
He also noted that the path of modernizing, that the Armed Forces are pursuing in order to fulfill NATO requirements, is one of the priorities of the Albanian government. Minister MEDIU stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with other countries in order to reach the required standards for being a NATO member.
The German Ambassador in Albania, Mr. ANEN reiterated the commitment of his country for helping Albania in the way of integration, and the contract that was signed is an evidence of this commitment.
The delivery as a gift of 12 helicopters type BO 105 from the German Company Eurocopter Deutchland GmbH, is a further evidence of the excellent cooperation between Albania and Germany but it is also a proof of the intentions of our government for modernizing the military structures. These helicopters will be employed by the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Health, and not only in military operations but also in humanitarian operations and in situations of providing medical care for the population living in highland regions.
