Bulgarian archaeologists discovered a cold pool or the so-called frigidarium of the Roman Baths (II AD) during the latest dig at the Aquae Calidae in the mineral baths in the Bulgarian coastal city of Burgas, the press office of Burgas Municipality announced.
Long steps of perfect rectangular shape, revetted with luxurious marble, emerged from the mud during the archaeological works.
The archaeological studies are part of Burgas Municipality’s project for preservation, restoration and socialization of the ancient and medieval town of Aquae Calidae-Thermopolis.


The frigidarium is a large cold pool of the Roman baths where the ancient Romans entered after the rest of the procedures at the baths.
It is disclosed at 4.6 m depth from the modern level. It is well-preserved – 6.4 m wide, and with so far discovered length of 6.8 m.

Einen wahren Schatz aus der Römerzeit haben Archäologen bei Ausgrabungen im Kosovo zutage gefördert: ein mehrfarbiges Mosaik, vermutlich aus dem 2. Jahrhundert. Die Ausgrabungsstätte befindet sich in Dresnik, im Nordwesten des Landes. Es handelt sich um die bislang umfangreichste Fundstätte im Kosovo, die sich auf schätzungsweise 50 Hektar erstreckt. Die Ausgrabungsarbeiten begannen im September 2012. Bislang wurde ein etwa 200 Quadratmeter großes Areal erschlossen, allem Anschein nach der Fußboden eines öffentlichen Gebäudes oder eine Stadtvilla. Der Leiter des Archäologenteams, Masar Valla, erläutert die Besonderheiten. “Das Mosaik hat eine geometrische Form und besticht mit seiner Farbenvielfalt, insgesamt sieben verschiedene Farben. Es ist eines der schönsten, bislang im Kosovo gefundenen Mosaike. Wir gehen davon aus, dass wir noch mehr solche Funde machen werden, wenn die Ausgrabungsarbeiten im Herbst weiter gehen.”
Das Ausgrabungsteam konnte vier verschiedene Bereiche freilegen, die allesamt über Mosaikböden verfügen. Die Fundstätte befindet sich in der Nähe der antiken Verbindungsstraße “Via Lissus-Naissus”, vom heutigen albanischen Lezha bis zum serbischen Niš. Mit weiteren aufregenden Funden ist zu rechnen.

in dresnik (kosovo) befindet sich die bislang größte fundstädte (50 hektar) kosovos
es handelt sich um eine römisch-dardanischen stadt

die ausgrabungsarbeiten wurden momentan aus finanziellen gründen gestoppt jedoch hat der kosovarische minister für kultur
den archäologen versprochen dass dieses finanzielle problem sehr bald gelöst wird.

interessant wer es macht muslime wohl kaum evtl xa,. kaputmachen ist das schlimmste wenn man es woanders n museen steckt ist es aber ok.

Thessaloniki, Greece - About 200 people, including many state-employed archaeologists, have protested Greek government plans to dig up a large section of an ancient Roman road and move it elsewhere to make way for a new subway station.
Holding a banner reading “Culture is not business,” the demonstrators outside the construction site at the centre of the northern city of Thessaloniki called for the stone road to be incorporated in the subway station.
The peaceful protest came a day before Greece's Supreme Court is expected to discuss an appeal from Thessaloniki's city council against that building plan by the Culture Ministry.
The 76-meter- long and 7.5-meter- wide stretch of road - a juncture of the city's main road with a smaller street - mostly dates to the 4th century. - Sapa-AP
