The story about the first attempts to hunt the Balkan lynx named Marko and its disappearance will be presented to the Macedonian audience tonight on the first National TV channel, told in two documentaries.

This will be a televised premiere of the German documentary "In the Heart of the Balkans – Searching for the Lynx", directed by Cornelia Volk and produced by MDR, Germany, and the documentary "The Spirit of Mavrovo Mountains", produced by the Macedonian Radio Television, according to the script written by Katerina Grupche.

"Finally, the public will have the opportunity to see these documentary movies and find out about the severely endangered Balkan lynx, about our work related to its protection, and about other natural beauties to be found in Macedonia," said Dime Melovski, a member of the Macedonian Ecology Society.

The Macedonian Ecology Society announced that, despite the lynx Marko, the German crew from MDR production managed to capture beautiful shoots of mountain goats, bears, wolves and other animals that live in the Mavrovo National Park. Beside the natural beauties, the film speaks of the cultural heritage in this region, presenting the Galichnik wedding and the Days of Sheep and Goat Herders. The film was shot in 2010 and 2011 and lasts 42 minutes.

After the German documentary, the documentary The Spirit of Mavrovo Mountains will be broadcast. The author, Katerina Grupche, together with the members of MED, told the story about the disappeared lynx Marko in a very unique and emotional way. This documentary was filmed in May last year at the Mavrovo National Park and the hunting grounds of Dushegubica, Lopushnik.

It is assumed that there are 20 to 50 samples of the Balkan lynx in Macedonia, sub-species of the European lynx.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Science has announced its list of 10 movies shortlisted for an Oscar nomination for visual effects for 2014. Artists from the Macedonian and world renowned animation and visual effects company FX3X worked on four out of the ten movies.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” are tipped as favourites to win the coveted recognition. The list also includes “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, “Godzilla”, “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”, “Interstellar”, “Maleficent”, “Night at the Museum: Secret of theTomb”,” XMen: Days of Future Past” and “Transformers: Age Of Extinction”.

FX3X co-owner Milivoje Gjorgjevic said the artists were proud of their work.
“We are honoured to have had the privilege to work on four out of the 10 shortlisted movies for the best visual effects nomination… The visual effects in these movies are more than spectacular… FX3X worked on Guardians of the Galaxy in cooperation with Method Studious, Maleficent in cooperation with MPC Technicolor, Transformers: Age of Extinction in cooperation with Industrial Light & Magic and Captain America: The Winter Soldier” in cooperation with Scanline. We keep our fingers crossed for the movies to be nominated for an Oscar for best visual effects,” stated Gjorgjevic.
This year’s competition in the category is quite strong, said the second FX3X co-owner Kristijan Danilovski adding that several films with stunning visual effects did not manage to be considered in the first round of 10 movies, such as for example “The Edge of Tomorrow”.
He said he was pleased that the company had worked on movies that were considered for an Oscar nomination in other categories, such as “Into the Woods”, shortlisted in the categories for best costume design, best makeup design and production design, and “The Giver” for best sound.
In addition to the nominated movies and The Edge of Tomorrow, FX3X in 2014 also worked on other Hollywood blockbusters, including RoboCap, Jersey Boys, Hercules, Lucy, The Giver, rounding off the year with Exodus: Gods and Kings, which is set to be premiered Thursday evening in Skopje.
The VFX branch executive committee determines the shortlist. The members will vote to nominate five films for final Oscar consideration on Jan. 10. The 87th Academy Awards nominations will be announced on Jan. 15, while the Oscars awards ceremony will be held on Feb. 22.

[h=3]FX3X in Rob Marshall’s latest film[/h]

The latest musical fantasy film Into the Woods directed by Rob Marshall in which Macedonian company for visual effects and animations FX3X worked on film making, will have its Skopje premiere on Thursday evening in Cineplexx.

FX3X co-owner Kristijan Danailovski said that this project represented special challenges for them because around 50 artists from their team were hired to work on over 50 complex and difficult film frames in the period of four months.

It is also a pleasure to work on such projects, especially with top actors, as a continuation of long-term cooperation with our customer MPC Technicolor London. We expect to be pretty interesting film because it is different in terms of the popular children’s stories and makes a parallel between what they learn in the stories and what they encounter in life. Excellent visual effects supplemented with top costumes and makeup make attractive to watch, Danailovski said.

Into the Woods features an ensemble cast that includes Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski, Lilla Crawford, Daniel Huttlestone, MacKenzie Mauzy, Billy Magnussen, and Johnny Depp. Inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tales of “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Cinderella”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, and “Rapunzel”, the film is a fantasy genre crossover centered on a childless couple, who set out to end a curse placed on them by a vengeful witch.
