Dear Dimitrios,
I was born in Chicago, but moved to Cyprus in 1973. One year later, my family was fleeing the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
I was one of the lucky ones. I could have easily been among the missing Greek-Americans -- Kyriacos Leondiou, Chris Livertos, Socrates Kapsouris, Kyriacos Sophocleous and Andrew Kassapis – who went missing in 1974. 41 years later, only Andrew Kassapis’ remains have been found, and nearly 1,500 Cypriots remain missing.
Those of us that work for peace and reunification for Cyprus know that we must overcome the legacy of a brutal Turkish invasion and years of intercommunal violence. To be able to do that, the remains of each and every one of the missing must be identified and returned to their families.
Please join us in asking Secretary Kerry to urge Turkey to allow access to records and territory in order to resolve the issue of the missing.

Every time I read the names and hear the stories of the missing, I realize that it could have been me. After 41 years, the families of the missing deserve peace and a reunified Cyprus, and they deserve closure as well. Please join me in standing up for the mothers, fathers, wives and children who have for too long waited to say goodbye to their loved ones.
Thanks for taking action,
