Dr. Alija Behmen (born in 1940 in Split, Kingdom of Yugoslavia) is the current mayor of Sarajevo.He is also a member of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He finished his bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctorate degree in economics at the University of Sarajevo.
Dr. Behmen previously served as Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2001 to 2003.
He is also a professor at the University of Sarajevo

. He holds both the Croatian and the Bosnian citizenship.
