Both Justice Minister Snežana Malović and Interior Minister Ivica Dačiž confirmed the news on Sunday.
Italian police detained Davidović, 34, on an Interpol warrant on Saturday and will hold him in custody for 48 hours.
Malović told B92 that she expects Davidović to "be in Serbia soon".
He was tried and convicted for causing ethnic, racial and religious hatred and intolerance when he and a group of his neo-Nazi followers burst into an antifascist forum in Novi Sad, verbally and physically abusing the participants.
A municipal court in this town issued an arrest warrant after he failed to show up at the prison where he was to serve his time.
The Serbian Ministry of Justice sent an extradition request to Italy for Davidović, nicknamed Fuehrer, after the Novi Sad court learned that he was hiding in that country.
