Turkish General Ozel meets with Macedonian leadership

President Gjorge Ivanov and the Chief of General Staff of Turkey's Armed Forces, General Necdet Ozel, expressed satisfaction Monday with the excellent bilateral relations, affirmed by the intensive political cooperation and high-level contacts.
Ivanov and Ozel expressed readiness for further advancing of the relations and cooperation, the President's Cabinet said in a press release.
Ivanov commended Turkey's support of Macedonia's aspirations to join NATO. In this respect he underlined the fact that the Turkish Embassy in Skopje become NATO Contact Point Embassy at the onset of this year.
Ivanov and Ozel also praised the intensive cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of defense.
Bolstering of the regional cooperation in the spheres of economy, energy, infrastructure and many others is one of Macedonia's strategic priorities, Ibanov told Ozel.
Ivanov briefed Ozel about the upcoming Summit of Heads of State and Government of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), scheduled for June 1-2 in Ohrid, the press release reads.
Today, the Turkish Armed Forces delegation, led by Ozel, also held meetings with the Chief of General Staff of Macedonian Army (ARM), Major General Gorancho Koteski, and Defense Minister Talat Xhaferi.
