Albania’s Public Debt Highest in the Region, WB Report
Ledion Veshi - 16.11.2011
Albania has the highest level of public debt in the region, according to the latest report published Tuesday by the World Bank. According to the report, the level of public debt in Albania is close to the level of 60% of GDP, emphasizing that Albania is the most vulnerable economy with debt accounting for more than double the annual revenues. The World Bank report projected growth in SEE6 at 2.5% in 2011 and 2.1% in 2012.
WB predicts that near term economic developments in the six South European countries covered by the report (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia) depend critically on factors that are largely beyond the control of their governments.
