FDI Magazine Recognition: Macedonian economic zones are top investment destination

Ohrid and Struga region is ranked first as the most favorable for investors in Europe. According to the ranking performed by the FDI magazine the Skopje and Stip region are ranked highly as well. On this occasion, FDI magazine will award Macedonia a prize on 12 March in Cannes, Ekonomski.mk writes.
According to ekonomski.mk sources TIRZ CEO Viktor Mizo will attend the ceremony. In the statement to ekonomski.mk the Minister says that Macedonia’s position within the ranking is proof that the country is slowly but surely becoming recognized business destination.
“Macedonia is a country that has range of facilities, opportunities, quality workforce, cooperative business sector and successful promotional strategy. The best indicator for this is the number of companies that have invested or have announced their investment here”, Mizo says.
“Macedonia has located technology – industrial development zones. They are interesting to investors because they have infrastructure, which means that companies can immediately begin building” Mizo says.
In the ranking of FDI magazine, Macedonia ranks higher than all countries in the region, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania. This according to Mizo, will help the country to attract more foreign companies.

TOP 10 European regions-(cost effectiveness) pricing efficiency Ohrid/Struga- Macedonia is ranked on the 1st place
TOP 10 Small European regions-(cost effectiveness), Ohrid / Struga- Macedonia is ranked on the 1st place.
TOP 10 Southern European region-FDI strategy, Ohrid/Struga- Macedonia is ranked 6th

TOP 10 European Micro cities – (cost effectiveness) pricing efficiency, Stip is ranked on the 1st place and the 2nd place went to Veles.

FDI magazine, issued by the Financial Times Ltd, continuously conducts studies for foreign investments. They investigate the impact of factors such as globalization and inflation on the business climate in the world and make interviews with corporate executives and businessmen. The Magazine is doing research and analysis for Europe every two years.
According to analysis conducted by FDI in November 2013, 3652 greenfield FDI projects in Europe are recorded at the market.
Most of the FDI projects are realized in the European Region, or a third of global FDI, 665 investments of which or 18.2% were in the area of software and IT sector. In the study named, the European Regions of the Future 2014/15, the magazine made an analysis and ranking, and adopted a new methodology or entered cities and regions as new parameters which will be analyzed under the FDI strategy and the number of people (in order to classify cities and regions according to their size).
Ratings were made on the basis of the following criteria, economic potential, human capital and life style, price efficiency, infrastructure, business cooperation and FDI strategy. A data base was made or data for 468 locations in cities and regions was collected, while the FDI Strategy – promotion strategy, had 180 applicants.
