He started his career playing for Dinamo Tirana youth team in Albania. He was then signed for the Norwegian giants Rosenborg BK in 2006. Hyka was ble to break out and make the Rosenborg Senior team at the age of 16. Rosenborg BK in 2007 had reached the maximum number of Non EU players its roster could have, but despite this fact Rosenborg still wanted to keep Hyka but Hyka decided to leave the club and signed with Greek Giants in 2007 where he faced the same problem at the from Piareus. Hyka practiced with the senior team in Olymiacos despite being only 18. Hyka came to late to the club and a loan deal was done to loan Hyka to the Albanian Champions SK Tirana. He was signed by Olympiacos FC in 2007 but was then loaned out to the Albanian champions SK Tirana for the 2007-2008 season. In Albania Hyka played 32 games and scored 2 goals. Overall it was a very good loan spell were he matured and improved his talents even further. He signed for 1. FSV Mainz 05 in May 2008 from Olympiacos FC. Although the Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb have shown their interest to sign him. He was very close to signing for the Croatia club but he decided to sign a 4 year deal with1. FSV Mainz 05 for 3.7 million Euros.
