Antike Makedonen, mit denen ihr Slawo-Mazedonier in keinerlei beweisbaren oder gar erwiesenen geschichtlichen und ethnischen Kontinuität steht. Ihr seid die Nachkommen der im 6. Jh. im Balkan eingewanderten Slawen und Proto-Bulgaren. Wende es wie du willst, aber deine Geschichte fängt erst 1991 an, und nicht 20'000 BC.

“A Name is a Name” documentary to be screened at Global Wake Up Film Festival in Chicago
Skopje, 29 October 2011 (MIA) – "A Name is a Name" documentary about Macedonia and the Macedonian people will be screened Saturday in Chicago in the frames of the Global Wake Up Film Festival, organised by the United Nations Association of Chicago.

"A Name is a Name" documentary is produced by Jason Miko and directed by Icelander Sigurjon Einarson, who lives and works in Norway.

The story line is that of a Scandinavian man who comes to Macedonia, rents a motorcycle, and travels around the country talking to Macedonians from all classes and backgrounds. The traveller, as he is known, never speaks on camera and in fact, we never learn his name or what country he hails from. Instead, his thoughts are conveyed through Sir Andrew Motion with subtitles in English for the interviews. Interspersed throughout the conversations will be Macedonia itself – the stunning landscapes and scenery that make up this gentle country and ancient land.

The film features music by Morten Harket, lead singer of Norwegian rock group a-ha, Icelandic bands Sigur Ros, mum and Earth Affair, Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young fame, California band Monte Negro, and Macedonians Kiril Dzajkovski and the late Tose Proeski.

Florina (Greek: Φλώρινα) is a town and municipality in mountainous northwestern Macedonia of Greece. Its motto is, ‘Where Greece begins’. It is also the Metropolitan seat for the region. It lies in the central part of Florina peripheral unit, of which it is the capital. Florina belongs to the periphery of West Macedonia. The town’s population is 16,771 people (2001 census). It is in a wooded valley about 13 km (8 mi) south of the international border of Greece with FYROM.

Several etymological interpretations ave been attempted and assumptions have been made concerning the origin of the name of Florina. According to one mythological interpretation the name of the town derives from the mythical Dioskouros Kastoras and his ally Floris. The Byzantine historian kantakouzinos refers to the Byzantine castle Flerinon or Hlerinon , the secretary of the Enetic Republic G. Cavazza on his wary from Ahrida in 1591 passes by through Fluribelli; where as the Turkish interpretation of the town’s name, salvaged by the Albanian invaders of the 17th and 18th century, refers to the Filourina version which dervies frm filouri meaning old coin. In 1750 the name Herinos or Filorina appears in ecclesiastical documents.
