Thank you New Zealand, Macedonia tops Group

The Tall Blacks have beaten Angola 68-64 in their final pool game at the FIBA Olympic qualifier tournament in Venezuela this afternoon, but it wasn't enough to stave off elimination.

New Zealand's win meant all three teams in the group finished with a win and a loss. The Tall Blacks were placed third in the group, however, because of their 22 point drubbing by Macedonia yesterday, which hurt their goal average. New Zealand have now missed qualification for the last two Olympic Games, after featuring in 2000 and 2004.

Needing to win by a large winning to move onto the quarterfinals, The Tall Blacks came out with much more aggression and intensity than they had showed against Macedonia 21 hours earlier.

Angola had a tough time shooting with the same percentage as they had done against Macedonia. In fact Angola missed their first 9 tries for three points. Needless to say, NZ took advantage of this and kept increasing their lead.

Macedonia with a good dose of luck, and thanks to NZ ended up topping Group A, just as they had originally planned despite their first loss.

[h=2]Домаќинот Венецуела ги заврши настапите на предолимпискиот турнир, со што нашата репрезентација официјално натпреварот од четвртфиналето против Доминиканската Република ќе го игра во петок со почеток од 23:30 часот.[/h]

Нигерија направи големо изненадување, совладувајќи ја Литванија со 86:80, a Грција го победи Порторико со 98:84. Така Литванија и покрај поразот останува првопласирана во групата и во четвртфиналето ќе се судри Порторико, а Грција го доби релативно полесниот противник Нигерија.

Доколку Македонија успее да ја совлада Доминиканската Република, во полуфиналето ќе треба да се бори со победникот од дуелот помеѓу Литванија и Порторико. Полуфиналето ќе се игра на 7 јули, но сè уште не е одредено во колку часот.

Europa League: Renova Wins, Metalurg with a draw in Malta

Renova had an easy outing against San Marino's Libertas in the first round of this year's Europa League.
Renova defeated Libertas 4-0 in a match played in Kumanovo. The Macedonina side controlled the match from the beginning and via two quick penalties took a 2-0 lead. The third and fourth goal came in the second half courtesy of Skenderi and Bajrami who scored hat trick on this match.

Metalurg on the other hand is coming home with a 2-2 draw against Birkirkara (Malta).
Metalurg took the lead in the second minute via Nestorovski, after which Birkirkara took the initiative, but failed to materialize anything meaningful. In the second half the Maltese scored 52nd minute much to the delight of the home crowd, however Metalurg took back the lead two minutes later courtesy of Curlinov.

Metalurg's coach Gjorgji Hristov with 15 minutes to go decided to play more defensively which in the end was costly for the Skopje side. Hristov took out Curlinov and replaced him with a defender. Birkirkara's sub Triganza scored in the 87th minute, levelling the score at two apiece. It's somewhat disconcerting that Hristov would opt for a defensive tactic against a team from Malta.
Metalurg in its return leg in Skopje needs to show they are better than what they showcased in Malta.[/TD]

Поранешниот младински репрезентативец на Хрватска, Домагој Дуспара треба да биде најновото засилување на Вардар за европските настапи во квалификациите за Лигата на шампионите, доколку наредниве денови го убеди во своите квалитети шефот на стручниот штаб Илчо Ѓорѓиоски.

Дуспара (24 години), кој веќе се приклучил на подготовките на тимот на Златибор, е фудбалер од нападот, а доаѓа од германскиот нисколигаш Либек, негов последен клуб. Претходно во кариерата зад неговото име се запишани настапи и во австриските Штурм и Леобен, како и словенечкиот Публикум Целје.

Хрватскиот интернационалец треба да биде засилување за офанзивата на тимот која ова лето остана ослабена со заминувањето најмногу на капитенот Филип Ивановски и Бразилецот Лико.

По откажувањето на пријателскиот натпревар со Црвена Звезда, „вардарци“ на десетина дена пред првиот натпревар со Бате Борисов во квалификациите за Лигата на шампионите останаа само со две контролни средби, поразот од Рудар Пљевља (0-1) и победата над Зета (2-1).

LoL Mann ist gestern die Stimmung gekippt, ich glaub der Schiri hat jetzt unzählige makedonische Flüche auf dem Hals. Was die gestern geschimpft haben, gut gespielt aber aber bei +20 war mir klar das wir das Ding verlieren, das ist sooooooooooooooooo typisch.

Schade, da wäre gestern mehr drin gewesen!
