Serbian President Boris Tadic has told visiting Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov that Serbia supports Azerbaijans territorial integrity and its position on the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, according to reports.
Tadic said he was grateful for Azerbaijans support for Serbia on the Kosovo issue, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Trend News Agency on Thursday.
His remarks came during a two-day visit from Mammadyarov that began Wednesday. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is scheduled to visit Serbia on June 8 and 9 to discuss enhancing bilateral relations.
A flashpoint of the Caucasus, the region known as Nagorno-Karabakh is a constituent part of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenia since the end of 1994.
Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia in 2008, and has since been recognized by 75 U.N. states. Azerbaijan has not recognized Kosovo as an independent state.
