The ancient city of Ephesus on Aegean coast of Turkey in the Izmir province was added to World Heritage List by the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) as the 15th property from Turkey.
The World Heritage Committee held its 39th session in the German city of Bonn on Sunday afternoon during which new additions to the list were announced.
After the Diyarbakir Fortress and Hevsel Gardens was added to the list on Sunday, the Ephesus became the 15th addition from Turkey.

Talking about the candidacy process and details of the event, Celik defined the Ephesus as the most important center for art, culture and science of its era.
