“Azerbaijan and Turkey are constantly subjected to Armenian accusations. Armenians are trying to introduce us as criminals. The Turks carried out no policy of genocide against Armenians in 1915 when the First World War was going on. Obviously, thousands of people were killed during the war. The Republic of Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora pretend to be innocent. We reject it, we don’t want historical revenge, and we want to look toward the future. We are demonstrating generosity,” Kilic noted.
Fuad Akhundov, head of the political studies and analysis department of the socio-political board of the Presidential Administration noted that Armenia is a mono-ethnic country.
“They are going to mark the 100th anniversary of so-called Armenian genocide. The issue is the work of historians, not politicians. The world's great scientists respond to any congressman passing decision on this issue. What is the current Armenian historiography? Armenia is a unique country in the world. What is their uniqueness? Armenia is a mono-ethnic country. Armenia is bordered by four multi-ethnic states - Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Georgia. How can Armenia be a mono-ethnic state? When I said it to them in one of the international conferences, they showed me Iceland and Japan as an example. I said they are located on the island,” the PA official added.
Fuad Akhundov also said that Armenia is pursuing a policy of renaming the places.
“Our national toponyms have been changed, ancient Albanian churches armenianized. All this is a priority of the Armenian historiography. Genocide was allegedly committed in Turkey, but thousands of Armenians are living there. Armenians were allegedly killed in Azerbaijan, but 30 000 Armenians are living here. How it can be? I also want to note that we have studied the archives in Istanbul. There is a lot of interesting information there,” Akhundov underlined.
Addressing the conference, Moldovan Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) Aurelia Grigoriu recalled the Khojaly genocide which was committed by Armenia against Azerbaijanis.
“The Armenian state committed genocide, a crime against humanity, in the town of Khojaly against Azerbaijani civilians 23 years ago. Unfortunately, the world community has a double-standard approach toward the genocide. Up to now, the acts of genocide committed against the Azerbaijani people have not been given a legal assessment. Armenia still continues the occupation of Azerbaijani territories,” she added.
It was also noted at the conference that the medal “Professor Rovshan Mustafayev”, co-instituted by the International Fund named after Rovshan Mustafayev and the Human Rights Institute of ANAS, was conferred on Azerbaijan’s first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, MP Mehriban Aliyeva for her achievements during a 10-year activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva for his merits in bringing to the world community the realities of Azerbaijan as part of the international awareness campaign “Justice for Khojaly”.
