Two RAAF F-4Es at RAAF Base Edinburgh in 1971

Albania gets 12 fighter aircraft F-4E ICE from Germany with Turkish help!
The first fighter aircraft western manufacturing ( even used ) attempts to procure the Albanian Air Force under exclusive information defencenet.gr.
This is for 12 ( other sources speak of 14) German F-4E ICE and 6-8 as spare parts which the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) has withdrawn from June and now seeking buyers .
This is a development which if implemented would create new data in the time required redeployment of forces to the north of the PA . Aircraft have about the same capabilities as modernized Greek F-4E Peace Icarus and have launch capability even AIM-120C!
The aircraft attempted to ward JG-71 “Richthofen” and officially retired on June 29. According to the German Air Force 12 of these are in operable condition and 8 can be given for parts.
The interesting point about the Albanian demand for German aircraft is that this occurred after they had prior contacts with Greece for the supply of certain aircraft to be used as spare parts for the F-4E of 117PM .

The first fighter aircraft western manufacturing (even used) attempts to procure the Albanian Air Force under exclusive information defencenet.gr.

This is for 12 (other sources speak of 14) German F-4E ICE and 6-8 as spare parts which the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) has withdrawn from June and now seeking buyers.

This is a development which if implemented would create new data in the time required redeployment of forces to the north of the PA. Aircraft have about the same capabilities as modernized Greek F-4E Peace Icarus and have launch capability even AIM-120C!

The aircraft attempted to ward JG-71 " Richthofen "and officially retired on June 29. According to the German Air Force 12 of these are in operable condition and 8 can be given for parts.

The interesting point about the Albanian demand for German aircraft is that this occurred after they had prior contacts with Greece for the supply of certain aircraft to be used as spare parts for the F-4 E of 117PM.

The German side but for reasons that have to do with her own design prefers the sale of aircraft spare parts but not as operational units and thus came Albania's request for their commission.

Indeed, in the context of their inspection by officers of the PA 2 F-4E ICE were found in the 117PM ANDRAVIDA on September 22, 2012 where they remained for five days conducting joint missions with the F-4E AUP of 339 and 338M.

Certainly the cost of using the aircraft is high to manage the Albanian Air which has no fighter jets only a small fleet of helicopters (1A 109C, 3 AB 205, 1 EC 145 2 AS 532AL and 6 Bo 105E-4) but in the scenario of the case and enters the known factor Turkey, which assured the Albanian Air Staff to be able to take the full support of F-4E ICE being delivered from Germany.

Just last October, the Albanian government approved the military-economic cooperation agreement with Turkey which includes the modernization of the Turkish Ministry of Defense military airport Koutsovas, one of the three military airports of Albania in the south-central region of the country .

Indeed, according to reliable reports indicate that protocol was not notified to the Albanian Parliament, the use of the airport and the Turkish armed forces.

The news was published on 26 October , but then no one had combined with the secret negotiations by now Albania to supply the German F-4E ICE.

This solves the problem and cost. Turkey is going to take the support of the German aircraft, the training of pilots and the possibility remains strong for some time they can fly Turkish pilots.

Can the presence of 12 or 14 F-4E ICE does not cause concern for the Greek defense system by itself but in conjunction with the Turkish Air Force then acquisition takes another particularly weighty matter.

Upgraded German F -4 E ICE

The modernization program of the German F-4E in the late 80s, called "improved battle efficiency" (ICE-Improved Combat Efficiency) and related essentially to enhance the capabilities of the aircraft in air-to-air missions with the transfer of missile AIM- 120 which would work with the radar APG-65.

It is basically the core and the corresponding Greek upgrade program which was undertaken by the German DASA, but at several points inferior Greek from which also separates a decade tenologikis evolution (German modernized late 80s to early 90s).

The program than the placement of the new radar comprising a series of individual improvements and other additives such as:

- New Receiver RWR alr-68
- New Systems (adsraneiako with laser gyroscope) H-423 of Honeywell
- New central air data computer CPU-143 / A of GEC Avionics
- Installation artery Information MIL-STD-1553R
- Certification missile AIM -120
- New fire control computer of Litef

Overall, the German Air Force has upgraded 70 F-4F ICE level but because of problems with insufficient number of missile AIM-120 and lack the Soviet threat the program ended in 1995.
