The bureaucratic genocide against the Macedonian people by individuals from the international community continues, says MIA correspondent from Brussels, as cited by Dnevnik daily.
Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt also sees Slavic-Macedonians and Albanians, but not Macedonians, within the most numerous ethnic communities in Macedonia.
Bildt, who is expected to soon lose the position of foreign minister of Sweden because his political option is not part of the new coalition government in this Scandinavian country, is known as European politician with the greatest activity on the social networks. Apart being active on Twitter and Facebook, the famous "bulldozer diplomat" has his own blog on Internet where he shares his thoughts and views.
It is exactly his official blog (http://carlbildt.wordpress.com/2014/07/10/overraskningarnas-balkan/), where his last comment is regarding the recent traditional Croatia Forum which was attended by number of senior political representatives of the institutions of the European Union, Foreign Ministers of the Member States and the countries of the region, as well as senior representatives of the United States, Russia, China and Japan.
Writing about how the Forum went, the Sweden’s FM, among other things says:
“This forum, of course, was an opportunity to discuss about the situation in different countries. What worries me the most right now is the development in Macedonia, where we now see fairly significant tensions among the country's Slavic-Macedonian and Albanian communities,” says Bildt on his Swedish language blog.
Sweden’s Foreign Minister has no problem calling the country Macedonia but he considers the majority people Slavic-Macedonian.
This stand of the chief diplomat of a Member State of the Union, comes one week after the new US Ambassador-Designate to Macedonia, Jess L. Bailey, stated in the American Senate that "majority Slavs and minority ethnic Albanians" live in Macedonia, and more than one year after the EU Ambassador Orav Aivo named the majority people in our country "Slavo-Macedonians" in the European Parliament.
The statements of Bailey and Orav were addressed by the Macedonian Foreign Ministry and the state authorities with protest notes to the embassies of the EU and the United States in Skopje, so it remains to be seen what will happen with this negative position of the Foreign Minister of Sweden regarding the Macedonian people.
However, what is worrying is that bureaucratic genocide against Macedonians and deleting the adjective “Macedonian” regarding the people, the language and the country has actually began with the Progress Reports of the European Commission and the European Parliament’s resolutions in 2010.
First, the adjective "Macedonian" disappeared from the reports and resolutions on Republic of Macedonia two years in a row. The adjective was returned in 2012 after President Gjorge Ivanov threatened not to receive European reports that do not contain it, but so far "Macedonian" is inserted only once or twice in the European Commission reports and European Parliament resolutions and only for naming “Macedonian institutions" and "Macedonian authorities".
