Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Dime Spasov paid a working visit to Probishtip on the occasion of implementation of the project “Renovation of CSW”. It is about renovating of 11 centers for social work. The first phase includes reconstruction of four centers for social work: Probishtip, Resen, Strumica, Sveti Nikole, while the second phase includes reconstruction of other social welfare centers. The aim of the project is to provide better service for citizens as well as improving the working conditions in the centers for social work. Macedonia has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) for the implementation of the Conditional Cash allowances and part of the proceeds of this loan will be used for construction and craftsmanship renovation of CSW.

Investment in new facilities for schools and reconstruction of existing is continuing and according to the Ministry of Education it will continue to be their top priority. The Minister for Education and Science, Spiro Ristovski noted that 16 schools will be renovated in the next few months and underway are reconstruction activities. In this group of schools that are reconstructed are: PS “Kole Kaninski” – Bitola, SS “Kocho Racin” – Veles, PS “Brajka Miladinovci” –Kumanovo, SS “Taki Daskalot” – Bitola, SS “Josif Josifovski”-Gevgelija , PS “Zhivko Chingo” –Ohrid, ES “Edinstvo” – Gostivar, PS “Marshal Tito” -v.Murtino – Strumica, SS “Ljupcho Santov” – Kocani, PS “Kiril I Metodi”- Veles, PS “Kocho Racin” – Kratovo, PS “Vancho Prke” -Stip, SS “Kiril Pejchinovikj”-Tetovo, PS “25th Maj”- Skopje, PS “Naim Frasheri” – Vrapchishte, SS “Ibrahim Temo”- Struga. The Ministry of Education announced that by the end of January will be announced tender for complete reconstruction of eight other schools: SS “Mirche Acev” v.Mogorche – Debar, SS “Nake Bugjoni” -Kumanovo, PS “Braka Ribar” – s.Tabanovce Kumanovo, PS “Kocho Racin” – Ohrid, PS “Nikola Rusinski” – v.Rusinovo Berovo, PS “Mirche Acev” – Gjorche Petrov, PS “Kiril Pejchinovikj” – Tearce, PS “Goce Delchev” – Konche. Parallel to this, as informed Ristovski continues implementation of the project of the so-called assembling schools in the rural environments. - There is an ongoing tender for the construction of six schools such: In the village Marena Kavadarci, village Selce Keche Bogovinje, village Galichani Prilep, village Berovce Prilep, village Karamanlides Bitola and village Krklino Bitola. In January 2014 is planned to launch tender for an additional 8 to 14 assembling schools that will be put into operation before the start of the new school year 2014/2015.

Skopje. Railway line between Macedonia and Bulgaria will be built by a German company, Deutsche Welle informed in its programme for Macedonia.
The media comments further that the Macedonian railway company and German company Wiebe are to sign the contract for the construction of the Kumanovo-Beljakovce section on Friday, December 20. The section is the first out of three stage of the railway route of Corridor 8. The section is 30 kilometres long. The project’s realisation will cost EUR 45 million, provided from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Ministry of Finance and the Municipality of Mavrovo Rostuse today signed Agreement to finance the project “Construction of street lighting of the two sections at the regional road Mavrovo – Debar” worth 6,426,634 MKD. Funds are ensured through the project for improving the municipal services implemented (PIMS) implemented by the Ministry of Finance together with the local government, with financial support from the World Bank. The project provides purchase and construction of public street lighting fittings at the two sections of the regional road Mavrovo – Debar located in the municipality of Mavrovo Rostuse. The first location is linking settlements Rostushe, Velebrdo, and Trebishte and where there is an ongoing construction of sports and recreational complex. In light of this location will facilitate the development of sports and recreational activities in the community. The second location refers to the lighting of the economic zone located below the village Zhirovnica, where are located two factories and one restaurant. With light of this section of road will increase the attractiveness of the area for potential investors and will boost economic activities in the community that will contribute to accelerating economic growth and increasing employment. The project for improving municipal services (PIMS) so far funded 30 municipalities and contribute to the improvement of municipal infrastructure, energy efficiency, water and sanitation, construction of gardens and other projects that contribute to the improvement of life in municipalities, it is said in the statement of the Ministry of Finance.
Construction of the new Clinical Centre in Skopje begins

The start of the construction activities for construction of the new Clinical building is to be marked Thursday in front of the old Skopje-based building of the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics, attended by the Health Minister, Nikola Todorov. The object will be built on the place of the old building of the University Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics,where its demolishing is in progress, projected to last three months. The whole project is worth around EUR 70 million with the reconstruction of the current surgery building, and the funds are provided by the Council of Europe Development Bank. The construction of the new Clinical building is expected to last for three years.
The key projects in road infrastructure during 2014 include the start of construction works over new motorways Miladinovci-Stip and Kicevo-Ohrid, and continuation of works at motorway section Demir Kapija-Smokvica. The motorways construction is to begin in February, a EUR 600 million investment by the Chinese EXIM bank and the state budget, resulting in 104km of new highways. In the railway sector, section Kumanovo-Beljakovce is to be reconstructed. The project is worth about EUR 40 million, secured through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Ministry of Health announced a competition for reconstruction of the old Hospital in Kicevo.
The reconstruction of this facility continues the promotion of conditions of stay and treatment of patients, with special emphasis on the implementation of projects for the construction and reconstruction of public health institutions in Macedonia.
The reconstruction will provide the Kicevo hospital to become a modern, energy- efficient health facility, which will provide a high standard of health care services.
- A new hospital will be built, with five departments of the segment of secondary care, 10 specialist services and 4 departments with day clinic. In this way, the new facility will house all departments: gynecology, department of internal medicine, outpatient section, emergency center, dialysis department and thereby enable better quality health service to the citizens of Kicevo, said today the Health Minister Nikola Todorov at a press conference.
The reconstruction should begin in March, April and the whole project should be completed within 16 months.
The total value of the investment is about MKD 200 million.
The City of Skopje has launched a new tendering process for a public-private partnership concession to design, finance, build, operate and maintain a light rail line in the capital.
The planned 12·1 km double-track Line 1 from Novo Lisice to Gjorce Petrov would require a minimum of 22 trams.
The value of the contract is estimated at €243m, with a duration of up to 35 years from the date of signing. At the end of the period the line would be transferred to the city.
Applications are due to be submitted by May 8. The contract award criteria include the amount of public investment required, the proposed equity investment by the private partner, the operating subsidy requested and the proposed duration of the contract.
In December 2010 the city appointed Vialto Consulting and EC Harris to undertake studies for a tram project. A call for tenders for a PPP contract was issued in December 2012, but this attracted only one response from a Norwegian consortium and no contract was awarded.
