Macedonia has received additional EUR 21 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which will be used not for reconstruction of the existing but for construction of new express Stip – Kocani road.
Deputy PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski, EBRD First Vice President, Phil Bennett and director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads Aleksandar Stojanov signed the agreement Tuesday in London.
The construction of the four-lane 28-km-long express road will begin in the first quarter of 2016.
The total value of the project amounts to EUR 53,4 million.
The EBRD began investing in the Macedonian economy in 1993. To date it has signed over 90 projects in the country with a net cumulative business volume of more than EUR 1.5 billion.
