Macedonia's ELEM to wrap up 32 mln euro HPPs upgrade by end-2014
SKOPJE (Macedonia), January 14 (SeeNews) - Macedonian state-owned power producer ELEM said the 32.1 million euro ($42.6 million) upgrade of its six hydro power plants (HPPs) will be completed by the end of 2014.
The upgrade aims to increase total installed capacity at the six power plants by 18.1 megawatts and to secure additional annual production of some 50 gigawatt hours of electricity, ELEM said in a statement issued last week.
The project is financed with a 27.9 million euro loan from Germany's KfW Bank and 4.2 million euro from ELEM's own funds.
ELEM operates two thermal and seven hydro power plants.
