[h=2]Interview with Yani Urdinov[/h]THURSDAY, 09 AUGUST 2012 22:44 FILIP ZDRAVESKI NEWS -INTERNATIONAL

Yani Urdinov controls the ball in front of Guillaume Gillet during Ekranas' match against Anderlecht in the Champions League 3rd qualifying round; photo: GETTY IMAGESYani Urdinov talks about his career, the upcoming friendly against Lithuania (where he plays his club football) and the World Cup qualifications matchup against Belgium, his country of birth.
The 21-year-old left back Yani Urdinov is a very interesting player who has experienced good success over the past couple of months by becoming a regular on the Macedonian national team while also turning into a valuable player for his club team. Yani plays with the defending Lithuanian champion Ekranas, and he also finds himself in theMacedonian squad for Wednesday's friendly against Lithuania. Despite Urdinov representing Macedonia internationally, he was actually born and raised in Belgium, another national team that Macedonia will face in the qualifications for the 2014 World Cup.
Yani was formerly a regular for the U21 national team and made his senior national team debut under manager John Toshack in the May friendlies against Portugal and Angola. Urdinov seems to have overtaken Aleksandar Lazevski as the second choice LB behind Goran Popov of Dynamo Kyiv. However, Popov missed the past couple of matches for Macedonia due to various injuries and Urdinov has capitalized to earn the trust of Toshack and maintain a place on the team.
MF: When and where did you start your football career?
YU: I started my football career at the age of 7 in KV Mechelen. I played there until I was 12 years old. From there I went to PSV Eindhoven and stayed there until I was 16. After that, I continued my career in Roda JC Kerkrade. At the age of 18 I signed my first professional contract.

MF: You are now playing in Lithuania. How do you adapt to the local life and language?
YU: I live here in a small city called Panevėžys, it’s a very peaceful and quiet place. My apartment is near a beautiful park, ideal situation for a footballer. The first 3 months were very difficult for me because almost nobody speaks English and the Lithuanian language is not similar to any language that I speak. Now my wife is here with me and my life is just like before.

MF: You played in the Macedonian league for a brief period with Rabotnichki. What’s the difference between the football in Macedonia and Lithuania?
YU: Here in Lithuania the conditions for training are better and the stadiums are also better. The games are at a higher level. Ekranas is a big name in Lithuania, without competition, from here Mr. Toshack called me up to play for the national team of Macedonia. Ekranas is a good team to grow as a footballer and serves as a perfect stepping stone to a bigger club.

MF: Macedonia will now face Lithuania in a friendly game in which you are summoned. How can you describe our opponents? What are their strengths and weaknesses? What player should Macedonia fear the most?
YU: The Lithuanian team attempt to play very organized, it's a tough team. They play very defensively but lack creativity. We play at home and I think if we play to our level we have to beat them. Lithuania doesn't have a player who can make a difference alone against our Macedonia.

MF: In the qualifications for the World Cup 2014, Macedonia is in the same group with Belgium. What do you think about this encounter?
YU: For me this is a special encounter, because at the age of 16 I played for the Belgian national youth teams. I‘m born and raised in Belgium but because my heart and soul is in Macedonia, I chose to play for Macedonia. Belgium is a very strong team, in my opinion if I look at the names who are called up for their friendly match against the Netherlands, I can say maybe they are in the top 10 best national teams in the world at the moment.

MF: You had you senior debut for Macedonia against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal. What was the feeling?
YU: For me it was the best feeling in the world to play against Portugal and such big names as Ronaldo, but at the same time there was also pressure to prove myself for the opportunity that was given to me. It was my debut for the national team, and that against Portugal, so it wasn’t an easy job but I got help from the older experienced players in our team. They accepted me from the beginning and gave me very good advice on what things I have to watch out for and just to play my game like I know how to. Iwant to thank them for this.

MF: Through Facebook, you often wrote optimistic and motivational posts for your U21 teammates. Is the harmony and friendship that big in the U21 national team?
YU: Yes, we all know each other for a very long time. We win together, we lose together. We are always there for each other, we are fighting for one another, we accept each other as we are, and we are all the same. There are no stars in the U21 team and that makes us a unified team.

MF: What are your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself?
YU: I’m a young player and it’s very important for me to play. In Ekranas I play every match so I can grow as a player and if I continue working hard, in a few years I see myself in some good European club.

MF: Who’s your favorite player/idol and why?
YU: There are many players that I respect but I don’t really have one idol in particular.

[h=2]U19: Czech Republic - Macedonia 3:1[/h]THURSDAY, 09 AUGUST 2012 19:46 DARKO JANKULOVSKINEWSFLASHES - INTERNATIONAL

The Macedonian U19 national team suffered another defeat in the second friendly against their Czech counterparts.
Macedonia opened the match on a positive note with an opening goal after just 20 seconds by Isnik Alimi after an assist from Besar Karimani. However, the hosts soon equalized through Verner to make it 1:1. Darko Velkovski had a chance to give Macedonia U19 the lead once again but failed to do so, whileŠevčík converted on the other end to give the home side a 2:1 lead.
Ševčík nearly added his second goal of the game in the 39th minute but his free-kick barely missed the target. Just before halftime, Rabotnicki teammates Velkovski and Viktor Angelov played a nice one-two which resulted in a shot by the latter which was saved by the Czech keeper.
At the start of the second half, Angelov had another solid chance but once again failed to reach the back of the net. A dubious penalty was then given to the Czech Republic when the referee pointed to the spot after ruling that Pelister's Burhan Mustafov had committed a foul inside the area. Trávnik converted the penalty and completed the final score of 3:1. Three minutes after that goal, Alimi was sent off after being shown his second yellow card of the game.
Macedonia played with the following line-up: Shishkovski, Abdulai, Trajkovski, Acheski, Zajkov, Nikolov, D. Velkovski, H. Velkovski, Angelov, Alimi, Karimani.
Also played: Iliev, Ramadanoski, Denkovski, Mustafov, Musliu, Osmani, Ameti.
The first friendly between these two teams, played two days ago, ended 1:0 in favor of the Czech Republic.

[h=2]Goran Popov to join Stoke City on loan[/h]SATURDAY, 11 AUGUST 2012 03:18 ALEKSANDAR ZLATESKI NEWS -INTERNATIONAL

Goran%20Popov%20Ukrainian%20derby%20match.jpg
Popov will be sent on loan to Stoke CityDefender Goran Popov will soon represent Macedonia in the English Premier League after Dynamo Kyiv has opted to send the player on a season long loan to Stoke City.
The loan agreement was confirmed on Stoke City's official website with the club noting that Popov should finalize the move on Monday. After Dynamo Kyiv recently signed left back Taye Taiwo, the future was unclear for Popov. Taiwo was signed to play regularly and in the previous league game in Ukraine, Goran played as a right back. After that game, Popov was interviewed and talked about being uncomfortable of playing on the right side.

Stoke City and its manager Tony Pulis are familiar with Popov as Stoke and Dynamo Kyiv faced off twice in the group stages of the Europa League last season. In addition, Pulis mentioned that Stoke scouted Popov in the Champions League qualifier between Feyenoord and Dynamo Kyiv earlier this week and came away satisfied with his performance.

Pulis said the following to Stoke City's official website, "Goran really impressed me last season. He’s an experienced player for his age and he has a great left foot on him. Naturally gifted left-sided players are like gold-dust, so he will give us strength in depth down that left hand side which can only improve us. We had him watched when he played in the Europa League against Feyenoord the other night and he did exceptionally well in that game."

For the fans of Stoke City, Popov is a big and tall left back who can also play further up the field in left midfield. He does indeed have a strong left foot and often attempts shots from distance during games. Goran's biggest weakness is that he can sometimes get caught out of position on defense, but he is a hard working player with good character. In addition, he speaks English so communication with his new teammates and coaches should not be a problem.

Popov joined Dynamo Kyiv in the summer of 2010 as a free agent after his contract expired with Dutch side Heerenveen. During the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons with Dynamo Kyiv (plus the four league games already played this season), Goran has been limited to just 32 league appearances out of a maximum 64 games, in large part due to a couple of injuries.

Goran will now be sent on loan to Stoke City who also have the option to purchase him outright next summer. The Stoke City manager said, "It’s a season-long loan, so we have got a good opportunity to see how he adjusts to English football before we make a commitment to signing him."

Filip Gachevski to trial at Zwolle
SUNDAY, 12 AUGUST 2012 06:27 ALEKSANDAR ZLATESKI NEWSFLASHES - INTERNATIONAL

Goalkeeper Filip Gachevski will go on trial to Dutch top division side Zwolle next week as the club is looking for added depth at the position due to an injury.

The reason Gachevski will go on trial at Zwolle is that starting keeper Diederik Boer is out with an injury. That only leaves Leon ter Wielen as the lone keeper on the squad, so Zwolle is looking for added depth and has invited Filip to come on trial. Gachevski, who turns 22 years old in a couple of days, is still under contract with Kapfenberg but the Austrian club has given him permission to seek a new club.

Zwolle is a newly promoted club to the Dutch top division. Another goalkeeper in Mario Kirev from Bulgaria was on trial at Zwolle last week but he failed to convince the coaches. Thus, the search continues for a keeper and now Gachevski will have a chance to go on trial next week and attempt to win a contract. Filip is currently the #1 keeper for the Macedonian U21 national team and has started all six games in the 2013 U21 qualifications. Gachevski was actually born in Slovenia but decided to represent Macedonia internationally.

Toshack geht.

The new president of FFM, Ilcho Gjorgjioski and now former national team manager John Toshack were present at today's press conference in Holiday Inn. Toshack told his side of the story and wasn't in a mood for answering many questions, while president Gjorgjioski didn't wanted to share anything new with the present journalists.
"I'm not coaching the national team anymore. On Friday i had a meeting with the new president of FFM and I was told about the new conditions for my contract, conditions that I couldn't accept. Therefore, we decided that it's best for both sides if I leave. If these conditions were offered to me a year ago by former president Hari, I also would have not accepted. I understand the ideas of the new president and also he understands my position." - said Toshack.
He also added that he think Macedonia has chances to qualify for the World Cup, but it will be very hard. Also he sent greetings to former president Haralampie Hadji-Risteski: "I hope he is all right."
"Toshack's contract was terminated on mutual agreement so both sides are satisfied. We are now searching for a coach who will be 100% dedicated to the Macedonian national team and will have strong authority among the staff and the players. We will announce the new coach after the friendly against Lithuania, actually the FFM will have a meeting next Tuesday. Since Toshack is leaving and his first assistant Babunski has a friendly in Portugal with the U21 national team, the training sessions will be under guidance of Goce Sedloski." - said FFM president Ilcho Gjorgjioski.
He didn't want to tell who will lead Macedonia on Wednesday, he just said that Sedloski will be there and also Boban Babunski will come back from Portugal on Tuesday evening, after the U21 friendly between Portugal and Macedonia.
Also, it was announced that Goran Popov won't be joining the national team as today he is doing the medical at his new club Stoke City and therefore he was released by the national team.
Macedonia faces Lithuania on Wednesday at 20.30 CET on the National Arena Philip II of Macedon in Skopje. The tickets are already on sale with a price of 100 Denars (1.64 Euros) and can be purchased from the sales networks of Tobacco and Together shops.

Janevski to debut as Macedonia coach
Monday, 20 August 2012

Goce Sedloski is out as Macedonia's vd coach, to be replaced by Cedomir Janevski, MINA finds from sources within the Football Federation.

Janevski has met all the criteria set forth by the FFM. The coach ought to be Macedonian, to live in Macedonia, follow and help in the development of football within the country. Janevski's 'foreign thinking' mentality was additional plus as he had spent almost two decades in Belgium.
According to our information, Janevski will be named the new coach by the end of this week. His assistant coach will be FC Vardar and Red Star legend Ilija Najdoski. The rest of the coaching staff will be known after Janevski is formally announced as the new head coach.

Janevski had spent many years coaching Club Brugge's B team and then spent several years as assistant coach both at Club Brugge and Olympiakos.
Later Janevski took over the reigns of Red Star Belgrade, and Ethnikos Achna in Cyprus.

Twice the Macedonian public expected Janevski to take over the national team, and twice it was Jonuz and later Toshack who beat him for the job.
Macedonia is starting its qualification in two plus weeks time, the first game is on September 7th at Croatia and in the second the red and yellow are visiting Scotland on September 11th.
