Infrastruktur-Projekte in Mazedonien

After 43 years railway from Marvinci to Smokvica is renovated

In Marvinci today was put in use the renovated railway from the Corridor 10, the section Marvinci – Smokvica with length of 12.4 kilometers.

The event was attended by Minister of Transport and Communications, Mile Janakieski , the CEO of Macedonian Railways, Oliver Derkovski, the Director of “Infrastructure”, Irfan Asani and Mayor of Gevgelija, Ivan Frangov.
The Minister Janakieski said last repair of the railroad was 43 years ago, and that today this section has been fully renovated and the section Tabanovce – Kumanovo is in the final stage.
- This is only the first part of the anticipated repair of 55.4 kilometers line of Corridor 10, with financial support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the amount of 17.6 million euro, while the second part is the repair of the section Nogaevci – Negotino in the length of 31 km, said Janakieski.
The Director of Macedonian Railways “Infrastructure”, Irfan Asani informed that renovation means complete replacement of dilapidated wooden sleepers with reinforced concrete, replacing the rails with new, and cleaning the old pestle and replacement with a new one.
- Now, the six existing road crossings on this section are made with upper part from recycled rubber and are much safer during the crossing, while the platforms at Miletkovo and Old Smokvica are reconstructed by incorporating new reinforced concrete elements, said Asani.

Driving with a speed of 100 to 120 kilometers per hour and greater safety in rail traffic are provided with the repair of rail, the section Marvinci-Smokvica.

PE “State Roads” today began the construction work on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the main road A3, i.e. the section from Veles to Kadrifakovo. As the director Ljupco Georgievski explained at the press conference held at the section where construction work is performed. The first of the three planned phases of this road which starts today, is length from 4.7 miles to the intersection Veles to the Veles landfill.

- The first phase of the road is from the intersection Veles to the Veles landfill and will cost about EUR 1.3 million and should be completed by the end of the construction season, noted Georgievski.
The second phase of the road Veles – Kadrifakovo which is planned to start in April 2014 is 8.9 kilometers long and there will be a complete reconstruction and expansion of the road with a new third lane to the village Lozovo, from the current 6.4 to 11.1 m, and will cost EUR 6.4 million.
