Es gibt negative Kommentare, aber auch von griechischen Usern, die abstreiten wollen, dass in den heutigen Grenzen von Griechenland auch andere Ethnien lebten, siehe dieser Kommentar:
"As a Greek well versed on all the various aspects of the war for Greek independence, who's read MANY books and articles, along with countless observations from my experiences as a first generation Greek American..it's clear the author lived up to his stated agenda of trying to knock down the idea of "nationhood". Goes out of his way to equate the suffering with their oppressor, a if their opposite sides of the same coin. Paints the Greeks as ruffians with no other purpose than theft, piracy, and a complete disregard for their fellow Greeks. You would think that it was just your typical 'ol war, and not a people fighting off 400 years of occupation, massacres, and the loss of their sovereignty. In the authors agenda and political motives, Greeks are basically a bunch of impulsive, underdeveloped people who without their industrious nature, education, and administrative skills, the ottomans were central Asian nomads with no experience running an "empire". He also goes out of his way to make Greece some kind of "mutli ethnic" melting pot, not a place invaded and occupied by turks, albanians, and slavs. Lastly, the effort to discredit the heroes who gave their blood for liberation, with a complete misunderstanding of Greek language and the way it functions, and the culture and state of the people in 19thr century occupied Greece. Would have done him much good to spend time with the culture, and not try to fit it within his own inexperience and ignorance. Much better books on the subject."
